INFORMATION

COLD REDUCED (CR) 

Available up to 3 mm thick, cold reduced sheet is the high end of the quality range with a smooth surface and a bright oiled finish.

HOT ROLLED  SHEET (HR)

Not as smooth as the cold reduced finish, hot rolled sheet can be rough to the touch with a dry finish. Sheet is classed as up to 3mm thick.

HOT ROLLED PLATE (HR)

Hot rolled plate is classed as over 3mm and we have a wide range available from stock up to 12.5mm thick, with thicker plates available to order.

CHEQUER PLATE 

Mild steel plate with a tear drop or tread pattern on the top. Thicknesses are given as ‘on the plain’ (o/p) so a thickness of ‘6mm o/p’ means the plate is 6mm with the pattern rising above the 6mm.

PICKLED & OILED (P&O)

Hot rolled material that has been dipped in acid and then oiled, giving a similar finish to CR material at a slightly lower cost.  Available in same thicknesses as HR to order.

GALVANISED

Mild steel sheets that have been dipped in a zinc alloy to make them resist rust and corrosion. Galvanised sheets are more expensive than CR or HR but will last outdoors for some time. Available up to 3mm thick.

ZINC COATED

Similar to galvanised, but with a thinner zinc coating to which paint can be more easily applied.

WELDED MESH

Sheets made up of wire interwoven into a mesh in imperial sized panels. They are available in either a copper washed finish known as self colour or a galvanised finish, and are described by the sheet size x square size x thickness of wire e.g. 8’ x 4’ x 2” x 2” x 10g. We hold the most popular sized panels in stock with other sizes available to order. We are unable to offer a cutting service on weldmesh and sell only full sized panels.

EDGING STRIP

Strips that are used to cover cut edges of weldmesh.

EXPANDED MESH

Sheet metal that is slit and drawn in to an open mesh pattern which can be more rigid than the original sheet. The mesh can be supplied in a raised or flattened format and is available in a variety of sizes, weights and aperture sizes. Walkway mesh is also available.

OPEN STEEL FLOORING 

Also known as open grid, steel walkway or steel flooring these are floor panels made up of flat bar with twisted round bearer bars on the top that run down the length of the panel. Used for walkways, gantries, platforms etc. Stocked in standard 6mtr x 1mtr panels in a self colour or galvanised finish. Other sizes, or a serrated option are available to order.
